The British government is prepared to move forward with using the total value of immobilized Russian funds to support the Ukrainian military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They further noted that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russian funds since Russia initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, money sent to Ukraine using Russia's assets had only been taken from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward employing the full value of the seized Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He noted that more measures in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement comes after European Union representatives met in the Danish capital last week to discuss employing frozen Russian funds for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump urged international partners to take or otherwise use frozen Russian assets, as reported by news outlets.

The total of frozen Russian assets in the EU is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow launched widespread missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on recently, causing blackouts in many areas of Kyiv, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

Several persons were killed and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the assault, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a post on social media after the attack, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike targeted non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not empty words but concrete steps - from the America, Europe, and the seven nations - in supplying air defence systems and implementing penalties," he stated.

"Every sanction decision diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed the press he would encourage Sir Keir to join the Purl scheme, under which partner nations purchase military equipment from the US to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the Britain's strong support for Kyiv, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the program, as well as enforce more measures on the Russian Federation.
